Is your printer really out of ink?

How deceptive. Printer companies *may* (notice I said may not will) be ripping you off, making you buy a new cartridge for your ink-jet when you really don't need one just yet. That is, your printer may read "empty" for your ink cartridge, when in actuality there is still quite a bit left over to use.

The above is a link to an article about something called melamine. Check it out. I hope it is useful. Just another one of those shocking eye-openers.

Images you probably think were "photoshopped" or otherwise doctored

15 images you will not believe aren't photoshopped

15 MORE images...

I didn't really believe these were real until I saw the original links the person posted along with these pictures. Number 6 (from 15 more images) I thought was for sure "photoshopped", but if you watch on the youtube video you'll see that it isn't fake. Well, for those of you who have already seen the bird before... well nevermind then. Nothing to see here.

Mutant/Unexplained "powers?"

Mutants? Super Powers?

Interesting article I found thanks to someone on my facebook. I don't much care for the the way the person wrote the article but it's an interesting article nonetheless. I particularly like the one about the Swiss man who's got a jet pack. Pretty awesome!

Lack of a good night's sleep causing memory loss? Other problems?

Circadian Clock, memory, and sleep

I found this Dr. Mercola article talking about getting good sleep and how if you don't get enough sleep, this can cause you to forget stuff you learned the previous day. There's also some great links in this article, so if you're curious about it, check 'em out. If you find this article useful, I would forward it to people you know, especially if you know they are having problems with sleeping or with too much GABA, etcetera, etcetera. There's also other information too, it's not just about memory loss.

Improv Everywhere Group

A friend of mine told me about this youtube video that he found from this group based in New York city, New York called Improv Everywhere. This group basically does street pranks, or maybe what you could call 'surprise missions.' Basically they go around and do things that people don't know they are going to do, calling them 'missions' according to the text in the beginning of each video. For example, the first video I saw (and the one my friend showed me which got me interested in the group) is of this huge group of agents who are told by the leader that at a specified time they will all just freeze in place like as if someone were to pause a movie and the characters appear frozen. Of course people are wondering what's going on; it's kind of funny but at the same time kind of eerie because people just stop what they are doing. The location in this one is Grand Central Station in New York.

Anyway, they seem to have some interesting ideas, sort of a spin on the 'you're on candid camera' thing. You can check out more videos and learn more at their website, here. They have their videos up on the site itself using something called revver, but they also (obviously) have an official youtube account with which they use to post their videos as well.

LOL - Lots of Laughs

LOL wow this is funny stuff. I don't know if anyone is familiar with engrish.com, but it gives you some well needed laughter when you're having a bad day for one thing. Anyway, this site is really hilarious with all the improper translations over in the Asias. I think it's mainly a site for Japan and China, but I can't be sure. They recently updated the website, and there's now a convenient link for "most popular engrish" on the left-hand navigation. There's 100 of them. Sure to give you some laughs. I hope you enjoy this site as much as I have.

High Fructose Corn Syrup a hurtful substance?

Well I've got a lot of information here for those that care to be informed about foods with HFCS. High Fructose Corn Syrup has been around since at least the 1970's, and is not something that should be in our food or in our drinks. I did a research paper on HFCS for college, and I've heard so much about it, that no amount of media tricks will fool me into believing that it's safe to use. Which leads me to this article below by Dr. Mercola:
Mercola Article on Media Brainwashing about high fructose corn syrup

Now is as good a time as any, so I feel that I should share my research along with my research paper in PDF form. Please do not steal my paper and claim it as your own! Here it is:

Nuttin' But Stringz from AGT September 2008

Man, I don't know if anyone who is reading this blog has seen America's Got Talent, but this year's episodes have been phenomenal (of course there is the bad acts too, but there were so many good acts this year to make up for them) and I just watched the September 3rd's episode where the 10th contestant was Nuttin' But Stringz. Anyway, these guys are just fantastic... But don't take my word for it, see for yourself right here:
America's Got Talent: Nuttin' But Stringz

I don't know how long NBC will keep this clip up, but I recommend watching this... These guys brought tears to my eyes the first time I watched it. They're simply amazing, it's like a mixture between hip-hop and classical or something. Basically, it's these two brothers who play violin as there act and just blow away the audience.
I hope you enjoy(ed) it as much as I do.

Cell phones - More data showing that cell phones are dangerous

-----
LINK:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/08/26/cell-phone-dangers-what-they-don-t-want-you-to-see.aspx?source=nl

---------------------------------

Above is a video and a link. The video is a youtube video about brain cancer. The link is to Dr. Mercola's website where there is an article about cell phones (but not JUST cell phones, wireless phones and possibly other devices) and how dangerous they are to human beings. This is just crazy; and I bet the U.S.A. (that is, our media and gov't) will refuse to acknowledge it for as long as possible. I'm planning on getting a cell phone, but after everything I've read and heard about, I'm going to be careful.. For example, you can buy Dr. Mercola's BlueTube Headset for cell phones. Basically, we should not have these radio producing devices next to our head! If a person does so, it should be for a short amount of time.

Another article showing cell phones are harmful to your health

Well, here we go again.... More proof that cell phones can and do affect human beings. Cell phones (or portable phones in your house, or even laptops!) emit radio wave radiation which is harmful to people. The best thing to do is to use Dr. Mercola's air tube headset (he sells a product called the "BlueTube Headset") when talking on a cell phone, or using the speaker phone when possible, or simply not using the phone at all. (Fat chance of that, right?) Well don't take my word for it, read this article from Dr. Mercola, which is where I got the information:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/08/09/why-children-and-teens-should-stay-away-from-cell-phones.aspx?source=nl

There is a lot more information in there and is quite interesting. At the time of this writing, I still do not have a cell phone, and I'm feeling like it's a good thing too! If I do get one, I'd like to get one of those bluetube headsets and try to limit use.

In conclusion, I just thought I would share this information with people I know (or even not know) so we can be more informed and so that we can take care of ourselves accordingly.

Waterproof Substance Allows Electronic Gadgets to be Submerged in Water!

http://www.switched.com/2008/07/27/gadget-waterproofing-process-defies-water-reality/

Hey all, check out this article my friend showed me (thanks David); it even has a video to show it off. Anyway, it's about this waterproof coating of some sort that you put on electronic gadgets such as cell phones... For example, you can stick a cell phone in the water and it will not be damaged at all! Quite amazing. I'm sure you may be skeptical, as I am a little bit. Technology is crazy isn't it?
Possible fake? I don't know. The video is pretty convincing.

Harmful sunscreens and bug-sprays - also, the sun is good for you!

http://products.mercola.com/summer-survival-kit/?source=nl

Here's a good article from Dr. Mercola on sunscreen and bug-spray. Worth noting if you go outdoors a lot during summer and have mosquitoes bugging you and being exposed to the sun.

Voxelstein 3d

This is pretty neat... --WARNING: Right off the bat warning... If you absolutely hate old graphics or graphic technology and have to have "eye candy", you will certainly not enjoy this.-- Otherwise, it's pretty neat. Obviously the guy still has a long way to go (at the time of this writing), but it is sort of a Wolfenstein 3d clone (actually, it pretty much is a clone - has the same sounds and everything).
Features include:
-Knifing the environment to make holes (like, to get out of your cell, you have to knife the "bars")
-Actual 3d world unlike Wolf3d (heh)
-Time bombs (or C4 basically)
-German Stick Grenades
-And more

Kudos to NamelessPlayer from TTLG Forums for sharing this with everyone. ;)
(From the thread Freebies for everyone!) So yeah, thought I'd just share this.

Star Wars IV: A New Hope

Okay, I was looking around on youtube and was watching some tutorials, and came across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byqCLKUmQaI&NR=1

This is really cool! If you don't want to do the telnet thing (I don't blame you if you don't) I found at the beginning that it gives a link to the actual guy's website, which is asciimation.co.nz - now, if for some reason this site goes down, or you are afraid to go there because it has a weird url, just type in asciimation on google or something. Anyway, to get to the point, this is a "movie" made in ascii that remakes Star Wars Episode IV as a text based video. Of course, its not the whole movie, and they change the dialogue a bit it seems, but its pretty neat in itself that someone could make something so elabarate like this. Anyway, I hope you enjoy, its pretty neat.

Diet soda is linked to heart disease and obesity - Worse than regular soda

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/2/23/diet-soda-now-linked-to-heart-disease.aspx

Dr. Mercola is great... My mother had sent me to his site a while back, and that was how I found out about him. He has tons and tons of articles, and if you sign up for his newsletter, he will email you about health related things. I learned about this article recently, and now, as you might find for yourself as well, that you are doing yourself a disfavor if you drink this stuff. Luckly, Im young and have never had diet soda. I always go with regular soda. I try to avoid it nowadays though, I'm certainly not a heavy soda drinking by any means at all. I hope whoever reads this will learn something, and will pass it on to friends and family.
